Paola Muzio Works

Paola Muzio

Artist’s Statement: I am an artist from Viña del Mar, Chile. From a very young age my father, an architect, introduced me into the world of art. Pencils, brushes, colors, and creative work were part of my family environment.

This led me to study industrial graphic design at the university of Valparaiso in Chile. In 1986 I did my degree project on the life and work of a great Chilean artist, Nemesio Antunez, with whom I later took painting classes.

In 1987 I won a scholarship to study at Universitá Degli Studi di Genova, Santa Margherita, Genove, Italy. Europe and the personal contact with classic and contemporary masterpieces inspired me to develop my own art work.

Back from Italy, I worked in an advertising company as a graphic designer.  Later, I began to paint my first artworks. I participated in different exhibitions all over the country and some collective exhibitions in Chile where two of her art pieces were selected for the Valparaiso Art Biennial.

In 2015 I took up professional painting again. Since then, I have been inspired by nature and the sea. Through different techniques, I capture the optimistic energy that the diversity of colors, lights and shapes gives me.  Color plays an important role in my work. It is how I convey concepts and feelings.
